Boise

Boise is a 10-12 month old male who came from the Modesto Shelter so we have no information on his background. He has a sweet disposition but is a bit on the timid side. His shyness may be from lack of exposure with many day to day experiences and routines. When unsure about a situation he will default to a down position. It appears he may have been an outside dog but is becoming more comfortable with his environment as time goes on. He is doing much better with his walks and has learned to sit. Boise will need more training with basic obedience fundamentals of sit, stay, come, down and leave it.

Because of his age, he is still in the chewing stage and is lightening quick at times to steal a more interesting or inappropriate item in spite of having access to kongs, treats and various nylabones. He is gentle when taking treats from your hand, eats his meals in his crate and is content to hang out in it when relaxing. He does sleep quietly in his crate at night as well.

At some point in Boise's early life, he had an accident to his left rear paw in which he lost his four toes. He has the main part of his paw and the one pad that still enables him to get around. It has not stopped him from running, chasing or playing with his foster siblings or getting out for walks and exploring trails. Care and attention to his paw's continued healing process at this time is important so as to not over due the amount of exercise he gets. His paw was examined by the vet who did not see any potential problems.

Boise's ideal home will continue with his obedience training and socialization, include him in their daily life and activities and provide him with at least a moderate level of exercise including some swimming and consideration of a healing paw. Another canine playmate would be acceptable to him as well.

It is unknown at this time how Boise would be with cats or other small critters as he has not been exposed to them yet.
