Niko HAS BEEN FOUND - 6/13/13

Dacia is a one year old female who was an unclaimed stray out of the Modesto area. She is a lighter colored Shepherd without much of a dark mask, and has one of the softest coats ever felt. She came into the shelter with a dislocated elbow, which was caused by unknown trauma, according to the vet. After extensive surgery, the elbow is now healing, and she is learning to walk properly on that leg again.

She is a sweet girl who has loved everyone she has met so far, and is easy and gentle when meeting children. Dacia was a little reactive to other dogs at first, but is now enjoying playing with the 6 other dogs in her foster home. She sleeps quietly in a crate all night, but will protest when put in the outdoor kennel. She definitely wants to be with her people as much as possible, but is not real clingy. She appears to be housebroken, and enjoys car rides. She needs continued leash work, and basic obedience training.

The ideal home for Dacia would be one that has children, and someone home most of the time. Another playful dog of similar size would also be good, but not necessary. Dacia has medium energy, but doesn't need a lot of exercise, due to her elbow. She will likely need anti-inflammatory medication for her elbow during her lifetime.
