Deschutes

Deschutes is a large 2 year old sable male. He was pulled from a local shelter when his owners failed to reclaim him. He is an escape artist, who will climb a 6 foot fence to find his people or other dogs. At the shelter he required a kennel with a roof on it to keep him contained. He does not appear to have the desire to run away, or walk about the neighborhood, just a strong desire to be with his family. Once he knows he cannot escape the kennel, he settles, and quietly waits for his people to return.

Deschutes walks very nicely on a leash, loves car rides, and has nice house manners. He can be a little submissive when meeting new people, dropping to the ground and rolling over for a belly rub. He sleeps in a crate at night, and lives with another female German Shepherd. He appears to like all other animals he has met so far. He gently takes treats, and doesn't want to be in trouble. His foster stated, "Deschutes needs very little correction, and too harsh of a correction, will cause him to shut down".

Deschutes would be best in a home with an easy going lifestyle, and with another dog for constant company. He quickly bonds to his people and other dogs in the home. Deschutes would not be happy without another dog in the home.
