Gino is an approximately 3.5 year old handsome red and black male, currently underweight at 67 lbs. He was abandoned in a dog park and landed at a Sacramento area shelter, so very little is known about his past.
Since his arrival into our program, he has settled in nicely with his co-foster, Foxy (see Available Females for Adoption). The two engage in frequent play, enjoy daily walks, and offer comfort during their time alone. Gino was observed playing well with many large dogs, but small dogs trigger strong reactive behaviors. He will do best in a home without small dogs and future interactions around small dogs will require experienced handling.
Gino is overall mild-mannered and very affectionate. He occasionally will jump with excitement, so caution should be taken with small children. He is housebroken, crate-trained, and displays excellent house manners. He does not show interest with toys, but he is learning that car rides lead him to new adventures.
Gino appears to have had limited exposures to the world and is easily aroused in the presence of multiple dogs. While he has shown good greeting manners with large dogs, he does become reactive with "barriers" such as fences. Due to this exuberant energy, he will benefit with guided, one-on-one introductions with his large canine companions. Further training and socialization will benefit this deserving boy.
No cats, small critters or small dogs.
