Re-Introducing Harriet

Harriet is a black and tan petite female, approximately a year old, and weighs about 50 lbs. She came out of a Modesto shelter, so nothing is known of her background. Currently living in a foster home with cats, she needs some reminders not to chase them especially when outside, but just wants to play. Harriet knows some basic commands, loves car rides and is crate trained. This smart girl has figured out how to use her nose to turn handles to let herself through doors in the house as well as with the latch on a chain link fence. There must be extra locks on fences and locked doors to contain little Harriet.

Harriet does fine with everyone she has met, including children from age 9 years old and older and with someone who is wheel chair bound. Preferring to be with her "people", Harriet may get anxious when left alone. Still mouthy, Harriet should not be in a home with small children until she overcomes this behavior.

As a young adult, this girl can be high energy during the day, but settles down nicely inside the house for a quiet evening lying at your feet. When left too long unsupervised, she will find something to chew on, including seat belts in a car. Currently, she is left in a crate when she cannot be supervised. Housebreaking is coming along. She is a quiet girl and doesn't know to alert when she needs to go out. Frequent reminders to take her out are recommended. Chew toys, balls, lots of exercise and continued training are a must for this active girl. Because Harriet loves to play ball, she may be a good candidate for fly-ball activities. Another dog for her to play with may help her burn up energy too.
