Merlin

Merlin is a stunning dark sable male. At about 18-24 months old, Merlin weighs in at approximately 70 lbs. He was an unclaimed stray at a local area shelter, so nothing is known about his background.

Merlin currently gets along with all of the large male and female dogs in his foster home. Like any untrained adolescent, Merlin still jumps up, paws you, and is mouthy, so might be too much for small children. He is learning house manners, but was probably an outdoor only dog in his previous home.

Merlin craves attention and wants to be right next to his person. He likes to lean up against them for attention, and will paw if it doesn't come quick enough. Merlin is learning sit and down, and is doing much better on leash. He has not had an accident in the house, but it is unknown if Merlin is fully housebroken. Continued training will be necessary for Merlin.

Merlin rides nicely in the car, and is fairly quiet out in the yard, or in his kennel during the day. He does sleep quietly in his crate at night, but it is a challenge to get him in. He is learning to settle in the house in the evenings on a dog bed.

When out on walks, Merlin does seem to have a little too much interest in small wildlife, and the neighbors small dog, so a home with no cats, small dogs, or other furry critters. He is also learning not to be reactive when we pass other humans or dogs.

Merlin would like a home that will include him in daily activities and will continue his socialization and training.
