NelsonNelson Head

Nelson is a 3 1/2 year old, black and tan 90 pound boy. He was an owner surrender to a Sacramento area shelter who said he lived with young children, although we always caution about trusting a big dog with new children especially given his size. He also is reported to have lived with other dogs and cats. He is very loving and bonds quickly. He loves hugs and affection. Nelson loves car rides and stays quietly in the back. He also likes golf cart rides. If there were a way for him to drive the golf cart, he would love to. He walks nicely on a leash and corrects easily. He finds security in his crate. He is a very good eater.

Nelson is an indoor dog. He currently sleeps on the floor, in the bedroom of his foster home and is quiet. His current Foster hasn't heard him bark yet. He is housebroken and will wait at the back door for you to let him out. He is well mannered with you in the home, only occasionally trying to sneak off with little pieces of paper. Commands he knows: Sit, come and go potty. We are working on stay and down now.

Nelson acts like he would like to chase squirrels, so introduce him to small animals very carefully. He seems fine with most large dogs. He is currently being fostered with no other animals so nothing is known yet if he can behave with cats or small critters. He is weary of some humans when 1st meeting them but warms up quickly. He has a nervous habit of chomping his teeth when he thinks you are going to leave him. He just wants to be with his human.
