PantherPanther Head

Panther is an all black 2 year old male German Shepherd, weighing 90 pounds, with a luscious soft fur coat. He was surrendered by his owner's because they could no longer afford to feed him, so very little is known about his background.

This loving boy rides well in the car. He walks nicely on a leash, only getting excited when he sees other dogs that he wants to play with. He is a happy boy, with medium energy, good with other people and dogs. He has nice house manners when you are home with him. He sometimes plays with silly things, which is a good opportunity to remind him of the "leave it" command. He knows a few basic commands, like sit and down (with treats).

Panther takes treats gently and lets you take his beloved bones away without a growl. He soaks in attention, loves belly rubs and hugs, but is not clingy. His favorite things are chewing on bones, being pet, following you around the house, watching TV programs with dogs or horses in them and lounging on his dog bed. He is such a big fellow that his dog bed is 2 oversized couch cushions on the ground. He currently sleeps at night in his foster parents room and is very quiet. Due to his size he should not go to a home with small children, who can easily be knocked down. With his long legs he is a bit clumsy. He prefers to be an indoor dog.

He came to us with scars on his face, we think from trying to escape a neglectful home. Even though he seems like he is mild mannered sometimes, he still needs formal obedience training. This will help ensure he learns that you are the leader in your pack.

Cats and small critters unknown.
