RowenRowen Head

Rowen is a handsome black and tan male 8-9 months old. His coat is smooth and lays flat to his body giving him a beautiful sleek look. He was an owner surrender to a Sacramento area shelter, but the previous family only had him a few days and little is known of his background.

Rowen came into foster without many manners, but has proven to be a quick learner that aims to please. He is housebroken and sleeps in a crate at night. He is strong and tries to pull when walked unless given corrections with a proper training collar. Anything loose will go into Rowen's mouth, i.e, shoes, picture frames, or the rug. Supervision and proper redirection toward his own toys are needed to help him stay out of trouble.

Rowen loves to play fetch (but doesn't get the return piece totally yet) and tug-a-war. This is a high energy big pup. He will run directly at you and could knock someone down if they were caught off guard. He also gets mouthy during play, so he'd be best in a home with older children. Rowen also loves to play in water. He is constantly tipping the water bowls over, even the ones that are attached and hanging on the side of a kennel. He could potentially be a good dog to train to dock dive.

He is currently being fostered in a home with four other dogs, big and small and with children 12 years old and older. The small dogs let him know they were alpha from the beginning and Rowen respects them. Cats and small critters are unknown.

Rowen is very people friendly and social. He would make a wonderful companion for an active family or individual. Continued training and socialization is needed to help him reach his full potential.

This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
