Suarez is a handsome 18 month old sable male. He came to us through a local shelter so little is known of his background. He originally tested as heart-worm positive but has successfully completed his treatment.
While Suarez can be nervous in new environments and with new people, once he gets comfortable, this young boy is very affectionate and just wants to be with his humans.
Suarez is always excited to go out for walks and walks well on a leash. He knows some basic commands such as sit and has learned to sit and wait for his food or to come in from outside. He appears housebroken and is OK in a crate.
Suarez is an active boy with a lot of energy. He loves to run around and wrestle with the female Shepherd in his foster home. When excited, Suarez can be very mouthy and doesn't quite understand that playing with humans is different than playing with other dogs. We recommend no children under the age of 12 for this boy. He loves car rides, but needs to trust the person loading and unloading him from the car or he can go into protection mode. Suarez is neck and collar sensitive, will attempt to correct his human and will do his best to get his way. A quick firm correction lets him know who is in control and having him drag a leash until he learns this is inappropriate is also helpful.
This boy will do best with a strong handler who understands the need for constant, consistent leadership and who will continue his training, exercise and socialization. He would also love another active large dog to play with and help teach him the ropes.
This is a Level 3 Dog. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires.
