TallacTallac Head

Tallac is an unclaimed stray from the Modesto area, so nothing is known about his background. He is handsome, good sized at 90 lbs, and his age is estimated at 4 years.

"Ninety pounds of sugar" is how the evaluator who sprung him from the shelter summarized Tallac. Indeed, he is an extremely friendly and affectionate dog, likes everyone he meets, loves belly rubs, and would happily be a lap dog and sleep on his human's bed. He follows his foster dad like a puppy, and rests quietly on his feet whether at the living room easy chair, or in the kitchen doing dishes.

Tallac is a very easy-going dog, calm, and easy to have around. Tallac corrects easily, and needs gentle correction. When unsure of what is expected, he lies down. He is well potty trained, but otherwise appears to be new to indoors - curious about everything. He is good-naturedly learning sit, heel, not to jump into laps, stay off of counters and furniture, not to barge through doors, and not to jump on his peeps for affection. He can sit for several seconds before jumping up to steal a kiss. Given appropriate chew toys, he will happily select one and settle down with it, but is currently fascinated with paper towels and such from wastebaskets.

Tallac gets along very well with other dogs, giving kisses to new dogs he meets. He is curious about cats but learning to give them a little space and respect. With time he will probably learn to live nicely with cats, but squirrels in the park should beware!

Tallac will be a wonderful BFF for the person who can give him the love and attention he needs, and continue his training. Right now his eager pursuit of affection might make him too much for a family with small children, but as he learns manners, his sweet disposition could result in a wonderful family dog.
