TaraTara Head

Tara was previously adopted out as a 4 month old puppy, and now has returned to rescue when her owners moved and could not take her with them.

Tara is a pretty black and tan girl with a hint of sable that is almost 4 years old. At 103 lbs, Tara is a big girl. It is thought that she has some King shepherd in her, but while we expect her to be a large, she probably should weigh about 90 lbs, and needs a diet and exercise program. She has grown up in a family setting with small children, and another large dog.

Tara is a house princess, and was rarely outside except for walks, and to go potty. She was allowed on the furniture and on the bed, so we are working to break some of those habits. She is a fairly easy dog to have around as she is very used to being inside, but does not seem to have much in the way of formal training.

Tara has gotten along with all of the large dogs in her foster home, and small ones she has met in public while on leash. While her previous owners did not crate train her, she sleeps in a crate in her foster home without much resistance. She will also settle into an outdoor kennel during the day, especially if she has a bone or something to keep her entertained. Tara is great at riding in the car, she is quiet, and lies down in the back seat without issue.

Tara would like a home that is committed to her health, as well as obedience, rules and boundaries, and continued socialization.

Original bio and pictures:

Tara is a HUGE 4 month old sable female beauty, born on 6/6/09. She was surrendered with her sister Tess, the last 2 out of a litter of 10, by a backyard breeder who couldn't find homes for them. Unforunately, the owners never socialized them, so Tara is desperately in need of experiences out in the big, wide world. She's generally very sweet with people although on the timid side, and she's fine with other dogs, but doesn't know the first thing about life, manners, or living in a home.

Tara will need someone who has experience raising big, timid German Shepherds. She must go to a home where she will continue to be socialized with people, places and other animals.
