VaughnVaughn Head

Vaughn is an 18 month old black and tan who weighs in at about 80 lbs. He came to us from a local shelter as an unclaimed stray so nothing is known about his background. While his past life is a mystery, it does appear that someone began working with him - he has a good understanding of basic commands like sit, down, and shake. He uses a doggie door to go outside and appears housebroken. He is living in a foster home with 4 other German Shepherds and can usually be found trying to initiate play with the other dogs. He has been around small dogs and got along well, but due to his large size and playful demeanor, he would love a home with another large breed dog to play with.

He prefers to sleep on a dog bed next to his human, but he will sleep quietly in the crate at night (after a few initial protest whimpers) if he is the same room as his human. However if left alone in the crate with no one nearby, he will whimper and whine.

He stays home with access to inside/outside when his foster mom is at work and the other dogs are typically enough stimulation to keep his young mind occupied, but he will still sometimes engage in puppy shenanigans so limiting his access when left alone and trial periods of being left unattended would be recommended. He has moderate energy, but is quite active so continued training and socialization will be needed.

He's learning leash manners, and is very well behaved when taken out in public. He would love to be an active part of a family and be included in his family's activities but needs some time to adjust to his new environment before being trusted left alone in the house unsupervised. He may do best in a home with another dog to play with him.

Cats and small critters unknown.
